Information for Parents
Birmingham's Young Archaeologists Club is a branch of the Young
Archaeologists’ Club. This is a UK wide organisation and is the
junior section of the Council for British Archaeology. Most branches
are run by volunteers and are based in museums, archaeological
units, archaeological societies, schools and universities.
All volunteers are asked to make an application, which includes
providing two references and going throughout he Disclosure Process
of the Criminal Records Bureau / Disclosure Scotland. Training
is also given on child protection issues. We ask all leaders to
risk assess the branch activities. If you would like a copy of
YAC’s child protection policy, then please contact Wendi
Terry, Co-ordinator, Young Archaeologists’ Club.
Please ask your Branch Leader if you would like further information
or if you would like to see a copy of a risk assessment. If you
have any problems or are not happy in anyway, then please take
this up with your Branch Leader. If this is not appropriate or
you would like to discuss the matter further, then please contact
Wendi
Terry, Co-ordinator, Young Archaeologists’ Club.
YAC Branch Leaders freely give their time and commitment to running
your branch. Please support them as much as you can. To enable
your Leaders to give the best support to your child’s, then discuss
your child’s individual needs.
We encourage all branch members to also join the UK
Club, costing £12.00 (8-16) or £9.50 (under 8), for
which they receive: Membership card and certificate, Quarterly
Magazine with interesting articles and competitions, Discounted
sites scheme, Access to archaeological holidays, Information about
the Young Archaeologist of the Year Award.
