National Archaeology Day 2005 by Matthew Bardell

On National Archaeology Day I dressed up as a Celt. There were lots of other people dressed up as well - some had blue paint on their faces which looked really good.

We had great fun making clay models, I made a jug with a zig zag pattern around the top which I did with a bone - this is sitting on our kitchen window sill at home.

I also liked the Boar hunt and running through the woods trying to catch him. There were some weapons which were made from wood which looked really cool - I wish I had one!

I ground some flour between 2 big stones this was very hard work, I also helped make some honey cakes which was very nice. We made a fence section of wattle nd daub which was very messy but good fun.

I am already looking forward to the next meeting.
