Viking Day

In February 2006 we learned about how the Vikings lived.

We made dolls of Vikings dressed in authentic cloaks and leggings and made some scenes that illustrated a Viking's life.

Phil, one of the Sutton Park Rangers, had made a model of a Viking longboat and he told us how they were built. We then made our own model longboats and tested these in the stream.

We then went on a forage in the park for materials and had a go at making turf houses and a camp for our mini-invaders.

We all enjoyed the experience and the cold was warded off with a feast when we returned to the Visitor's Centre.

Many thanks to Phil and Erroll from the Sutton Park Rangers Service for their help with the Viking survival / invasion morning at Sutton Park.
