Weoley Castle

My name is Emily Farmer and my sister is Molly Farmer, we are both members of the Birmingham YAC.

We visited Weoley Castle on the 13th July as it was open to everybody because it was National Archaeology Week.

It was really exciting as we saw a Knight on a horse and we went on a tour of the castle ruins. There were also 2 medieval knights sword fighting and a play telling us what it was like to live in medieval times.

The people were dressed in fancy costumes and the woman wore damsel hats which are long and pointy with a ribbon flowing from them.

We got to make green men masks and hear the wise old woman telling us all about cooking in medieval times.

We were also allowed to try on some helmets and chain mail, which was really good although it was a little bit heavy, it must have made you really tired if you had to wear it all the time.
